We Are Dealing With Hardships Together!

With Our 2011 Ramadan Campaign, We Plan To Reach Out To Thousands Of Brothers And Sisters

We are dealing with hardships together!

If you ask as how we have spent the Ramadans of the past 19 years, we will say we have worked to knock the door of everyone in the world who needs us, we have put our love in our food packages and taken them to financially-disadvantaged people.

We will also say we have tried to be a ray of hope for refugees who try to cling to life amid difficulties; we have made preparations for sahoor [pre-dawn meal in Ramadan] in the tents of immigrants and shared our bread with them.

We have performed ablutions from the hundreds of water wells we opened in 18 African countries where access to clean water is limited and we performed dawn prayers together.

And we have vigorously worked in order not to leave tens of thousands of children alone who were orphaned by wars, natural disasters or other reasons; we have supported 18,600 children across 30 countries with our Sponsor Family System and continue to do so. We have worked to provide them with the support they need so that they can receive education freely and without being dependent on anyone. We have taken them stationery supplies to support their education and presented them new clothes for Eid thanks to your donations.

We have covered long distances and overcome many challenges. We have touched the hearts of many in ruined villages. We have visited 52,000 cataract patients who regained their vision and 165,987 eye patients who were examined as part of the IHH’s Africa Cataract Project, we have asked them how they were doing.

If you ask how we have spent the Ramadans over the past 19 years, we will say we have established iftar [fast-breaking] tents for many people who cannot afford to have an iftar table, we have delivered them hot meals with our mobile kitchens. We performed teraweeh prayers with people who were waiting us in the mosques we constructed in 28 countries, we prayed for a world where peace and justice sovereign.

For 19 years, we have gone to far places. By taking strengthen from our history, we have shared the problems of people, listened to their stories which included occupation, tyranny, loneliness and desperation. We have wanted their stories to have a happy ending, we have wanted to encourage them and sought for solutions for their problems and shared all these with you, our esteemed volunteers.

Just as we have done so far, we will be with Arakanese little refugee Necip, with Sadina who attends summer school in the Balkans, with Philip who lives in a quake tent in South America, with Rara who draws water from a water well in Africa, with Hasan who has to continue living blind because he has cataract, with Samina who has no school to attend and with Palestinian Muhammad at this Ramadan, too.

We are just at the beginning of our way and there are many roads we have to cover and much goodness we have to make with you… We have raised our voice with you, our volunteers, and we continue our way in order to leave good deeds and a better world behind us.
