Eight mosques opened in Burkina Faso
Eight out of nineteen mosques that were under construction opened in Burkina Faso.
BurkinaFaso 11.09.2014

Eight out of nineteen mosques that were under construction opened in Burkina Faso.

In 2013 IHH Humanitarian Aid Organization started a project for the Burkina Faso villages where there is no mosque. The construction of nineteen mosques started as a part of the project. Today eight of them are ready for the believers to perform their prayers. Burkina Faso is the poorest country in West Africa. Its 65% Muslim population lacks the financial ability to have mosques or masjids to perform their prayers.

IHH started to build nineteen mosques there in 2013 as a part of the project to cater to the needs of the local Muslims of Burkino Faso.

The mosques are built on a 60 square metre groundplan with a 9 metre-high minaret. They have 100 people capacity each and an ablution area as well as three toilets. The mosques are built in consultation with experts. Their roofs were built in such a way to resist extreme heat and sun. In the long run, mosques will have trees as a part of the landscape design.

The mosques will also serve as a community and study center for the local people who are in need of mosque or masjid in Burkino Faso.

The rest of the 11 mosques still under construction will open to the worshippers in 2015.
