25 New Wells in Ethiopia
Thanks to the support of the donors IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation opened 25 more wells in two different regions in Ethiopia. One in ten people in the world have no access to water. Drought, poverty, rapid rise of population and pollution threaten the potable clean water resources. The contagious diseases increase in the world, as millions of people have no access to healthy water.

IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation keeps working toward providing clean water for millions of people to meet their all kinds of needs for water. One of the primary ways to do it is opening wells in needy areas.

IHH, which opened over 6000 wells in 33 countries so far, has recently opened 25 new wells in Oromia, Harar and Shashamenne cities close to the Somali border in Ethiopia. The wells will daily serve 8.000 people.

Contribute to Agriculture and Livestock

Nazif Çerik who visited the area on behalf of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation said, “Thanks to the new wells we have opened to service the local communities will no longer resort to old school open air wells that get easily infected and cause diseases.

“The areas where we opened wells suffer long arid months except rain season. So people had a hard time to get access to water. Not only people but also livestock like cows, goose, and camels were affected by the drought. However these new wells that we opened will get rid of all these problems and also help water the agricultural lands.”
