Nakuru, the provincial capital of Kenya's Rift Valley province, is the fourth largest province in the country with its 300,000 population. Lake Nakuru, famous for its flamingos, is located in this city. People from different religions who live in the city are giving a struggle for life. However, Muslims in the country, which make up 10 percent of the population, lead a more difficult life than others and their needs are neglected. Muslims in Nakuru are deprived of an opportunity to raise their children in accordance with Islam, they do not have even a masjid where they can pray altogether.

In order to meet these needs of the Muslims in the city, IHH took action together with its partner in the region, Kenya Muslims Charitable Society, for the construction of a mosque and school in the region.

Thanks to joint work of these foundations, a school, which has an area of 56 square-meters and four classrooms, and a mosque, named Halil İbrahim Mosque which has an area of 225 square-meters, have been constructed. The school and the mosque were built in a military facility where Muslim troops reside.

These facilities are expected to boost self-confidence of the youths in Kenya from social and economic means and contribute the rise of the education level in the region in addition to helping Muslims in the region to perform their prayers altogether.
