Double joy in Patani
Teams from IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation that travelled to Patani for Eid al-Adha aid also inaugurated a school for orphans.
Patani 21.10.2013

The construction of the school was sponsored by students of Boğaziçi University, who are IHH volunteers. The students raised the money necessary for the school’s construction by selling bookmarkers, badges, key holders and notebooks which they designed themselves.

The inauguration of the “Boğaziçi School,” where orphans in Patani will receive primary school education was made by IHH teams which went to the region to deliver Eid al-Adha aid. There are nine classrooms, one laboratory and one library at the school which has a capacity of 360 students.

Initially, 100 students will receive education at the school. The students of the school were earlier staying at an orphanage opened by IHH and Konya-based AYDER foundation.

Patani, where around five million Muslims live under difficult circumstances, has been under the occupation of Thailand since Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909. There are checkpoints of Thai soldiers in every two kilometers in the cities of Patani. IHH, which extends a helping hand to the orphans in the problematic region of the southeastern Asia, continues to give support to the region’s people by visiting them on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

With the opening of the latest school, the number of centers IHH opened for orphans in Patani has risen to four. The construction of another orphanage is still in progress.
