It is questionable how a decision that will end the lives of 539 people was taken with a trial that lasted only a few months. During the course of hearings the defendants were denied their “right to defend” which is one of the fundamental principles of law. The result was a reckless and sloppy decision as such.

The accused that are under arrest did not even have the opportunity to give a mock defence. Some of the protesters who fled the country were also sentenced to death in absentia.

The last hearing at the coup’s court set a record in Egyptian justice by sentencing 26 people to death per minute. There came no explanation from the authorities regarding this excessive decision.

The coup slaughtered the opposition inside the mosques and on the streets by thousands before the eyes of world public. Those who survived those atrocities are received death sentences in such fashion. This decision will serve as a deterrent for the future opposition against the state run terror.

Unfortunately Egyptian people facing unjustified murders, wounding, and suppression are left alone. The attitude of Western and Arabic countries did not only leave Egyptians alone but also encouraged the coup to escalate the oppression. The recent court decision is a result of the political credit the coup has received.

Western Countries have failed to show a reaction as strong as they showed to the environmental issues like cutting down trees or the closing of twitter in Turkey therefore proved their hypocrisy.
The West which claims to be built on values of democracy turned a blind eye to the coup d’etat. Moreover it provided political and economic credit to the putschists and showed that democratic values can be dismissed if the Muslims are concerned.

Certain Arab countries under the tow of the West joined the club and offered the funds they were stingy about during Muhammad Mursi’s administration for the solution of economic problems.

The latest pantomime of justice in Egypt has exposed that is going on in the country and its regional and global culprits. Today, when Muslim identity is concerned atrocities or illegal practices are tolerated.

As people who regard the lives of all people regardless of faith or race, we condemn the latest death sentences and those coup-lovers who remain silent thus support it.

In order to raise our voices against this decision violating human rights and law and we will march from the Fatih Mosque following the Friday prayers.
