IHH continues to deliver aid to Somalia, one of the poorest countries in Africa. People of Somalia are in need of continuous aid to survive thanks to poverty and civil wars. Recently Somali pirates hijacking ships received wide media coverage, the country for a long time yearns for political stability. Level of poverty in Somalia is far more striking compared to the pirate stories.

IHH has speeded up its activities in Somalia, they have been funding and establishing mobile surgical centers to carry out cataract surgeries in the region as well as continuing school, hospital, mosque, water well building projects. Lack of education continues to exist as one of the biggest problems in Somalia just like in other African countries. As a remedy for this problem, with the help of generous donations from people of Turkey, mosques and schools are being built in the country.

IHH have recently realized a project for building an education complex in the Qalimow town in Southern Shabella region of Somalia. During the project, a 5-classroom school and a mosque were built in the region. 300 students will receive education at the newly built school. Especially children of the poorest families will be provided with an opportunity to study at this school. Meanwhile the mosque built in “Hz.Hatice Islam Merkezi” complex aims at serving over 1,500 families. We would like to express our thanks to our volunteers for their generosity, may Allah accept your charitable deeds.
